The piece presents a robot with several sensors painting a regular pattern. The disparity between the robot's perceived position and the real one results in distortions to the pattern.

The error in the perception is produced by inaccuracies of the sensors and interferences from the physical world. This error is rendered visible through the painting.

A computer connected wirelessly to the robot acts as its brain. The viewer can observe in its screen the imagination of the robot, which includes its perceived position and what it thinks it is painting.

My interest is to express these deformations as a metaphor of human perception. The viewer is granted an outside vision of what is happening in the real space at the same time that monitoring what the perception of the robot is. Being an outside viewer of another creature’s real and evoked space allows him to think about his own perception of his space.

Meanwhile, the viewer creates another layer of the piece. Deformations induce our brain to attempt to reconstruct the pattern, and, in doing so, we focus our attention in the irregularities.

In order to complete the painting, points that should have been together are connected by a blue line, removing the existing fragmentation. This results in drawing the error produced during the process.

Beauty in this work is in the errors and deformations of a pattern provoked by the distorted perception of a robot and presented to us.
